Create and Manage a Class

Set up a class with the correct grade, state, and assessment so students and diagnostics stay organized.

Create the class

Use a name that will still be clear when you have several classes.

  1. Open Teacher Portal and select Classes.
  2. Enter a class name such as Grade 3 Morning Math.
  3. Choose the grade and state.
  4. Enter the state assessment name if it is known.
  5. Select Create Class.

Use the class code

Testinar generates a class code automatically. Students need this code plus their own PIN to sign in.

Good to know
  • The class code can be shared with everyone in the class.
  • Student PINs must be shared individually.

Review the roster

Select a class card to open its roster. Use the roster filter when a class has many students.

Quick answers

Can two classes have the same name?

Use distinct names when possible. The generated class codes will still be different.

What if the assessment is unknown?

You can create the class and use a general math description, then update student preparation as more information becomes available.
