PSAT Math Test
The PSAT (Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test) is a standardized test developed by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation to help students prepare for college. It also serves as a prerequisite for the National Merit Scholarship. Every year, about 3.5 million students take the PSAT/NMSQT.
Math and Evidence-Based Reading and Writing are the two parts of the PSAT.
There are two math portions on the PSAT: Students have 25 minutes to complete the first section, consisting of 17 multiple-choice questions with four response alternatives and short answer grid-in questions. Students are not permitted to use a calculator in this section.
The second section contains 31 multiple choice questions with four response options and short answer grid-in questions, with a total time limit of 45 minutes. This section of the test allows test takers to use a calculator.
