SAT Math Test
The SAT is a standardized examination and an entrance exam used by college and university admissions committees to make admissions choices. The SAT assesses a high school student's talents and preparation for college courses, providing admissions committees with a single point of comparison for all applicants.
The SAT exam includes the following subtests: Reading, Writing and Language, Math, and Essay (optional).1
There are two Math sections on the SAT: Students have 25 minutes to complete the first section, which has 20 multiple choice questions with four response possibilities and short answer grid-in questions. This section does not allow students to use a calculator.
The second section consists of 38 multiple-choice questions with four response options and short answer grid-in questions, and test-takers have 55 minutes to complete it. In this section of the exam, test takers may use a calculator.
