The value of the place, or position, of a digit in a number.
Example:
In 456 , the 5 is in “tens” position.
For the number 5861237, Which has seven digits.
In the ones place, We have 7 with the value 7∗1=7
In the tens place, We have 3 with the value 3∗10=30
In the hundreds place, We have 2 with the value 2∗100=200
In the thousands place, We have 1 with the value 1∗1000=1000
In the ten thousands place, We have 6 with the value 6∗10000=60000
In the hundred thousands place, We have 8 with the value 8∗100000=800000
In the millions place, We have 5 with the value 5∗1000000=5000000
